Some believe our lives on earth are all based on what we've become or made of ourselves, some believe it's based on success and the heights we reach however, what if I told you that there is a God that loves us no matter who we are and what we have done and there is nothing on earth we can do to earn God's love but to accept the grace he's given us through Christ and choose to live by his perfect plan for our lives.
Take a look at the world around us, filled with many paths, courses and destinations. Think about the season of life you are currently in, it is part of your course. We all experience seasons of loss, gain, ups and down in some type of way, shape or form. The world's eyes will see those moments as defining or what "make" us however I believe calling those those defining moments give our challenges and trauma a little too much credit. Don't get me wrong I believe our experiences in our individual paths of life shape us into the people we are but I also wholeheartedly believe in a miracle working God that has the power to take not only our good but our crushing moments and make us into a new wine or a new creation in him. "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20) The world may always look at us through eyes that see our past and use that to define our future however God's eyes see us as a new creation and that the old has gone and the price of our failures has been paid for so that we can walk in true freedom which is only found where God's grace is. After all, we are ALL human and although the human race is not a fair game, one thing that stands true is "we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God," (Romans 3:28) God has shifted my mind from a place of dwelling in my shortcomings and life mishaps to fixing my eyes on him and praising him in and through obstacles because it is only by his grace that I am still breathing. Every breath we take should give praise because in all of our shortcomings and failures on earth there still is a righteous God who has made a way for us to meet him face to face when we reach out final destination. Thank you God for grace. Thank you God for shining your light down on us when the world casts us out.
Simple, just look right? I mean if it was only that easy, imagine a world where everyone looked at each other the way God looks at us. Sounds like heaven. Well if you're reading this chances are, like me your probably not there yet, so we still got some unfinished work to do my friends. In order to see through God's eyes we have to train ourselves to look through God's eyes and the best way of doing that is to immerse ourselves daily in his word. God really does speak to us through the bible. Looking back, all of the things I questioned all of the burdens I had and carried, the solution was already there I just had to put down the lens of the world that carried bitterness, guilt, shame, anxiety and put on the lens God had for me to give and accept forgiveness, confidence, unconditional love, joy and peace.
Another way is being mindful of the things we allow to enter our minds. Whether its through our eyes, our ears our mouth all of the things we take in do affect us internally which in turn comes out externally through our interactions, in order to see through God's eyes we must fix our eyes on him on all times, which can easily be a struggle living in a world full of distractions and self gratification. When we dedicate our lives to living in a constant state of worship through what we choose to listen to, look at and participate in, we begin to see and experience God's work in our lives in a supernatural way.
In this world there will be struggles, there will be trials, but in those moments we have a choice to fight those battles God's way or the world's way. It's already written that God has the final say, so why is it so hard for us to choose him or turn to him not only in our moments of strife but also giving him the credit for every triumph. Because we sinful beings by nature. None of us are perfect which is why we constantly have to uproot and encourage each other through God's word. Daily I am learning what it means and looks like to pick up my cross daily and denying my flesh and really suiting myself up with the armor of God so that I can boldly walk out into the world which is a battlefield and fulfill God's plan and mission which is to point people to Christ.
